The pioneers of Slovenian shoegaze are back with yet another full length album which sounds more intense and confident than before, while seamlessly blending the genres of shoegaze, post-punk, garage rock, krautrock and others.

„Loose Contacts / Tense Present“ was a process that took many years and saw the band reinvent its signature noise-pop sound. It’s an album of contrasts that reflect the duality of modern day times, a time in which relationships between people are changing and the differences between them are widening. While their debut album „Where If Not Now“ was labeled as a oundtrack to an introspective dream sequence, the new album does the opposite and hits you in your face with its direct sound and clearer sonic palette.

HAIKU GARDEN are a four piece band that has toured at home and all over Europe in the past few years, played festivals and clubs in countries including Germany, Netherlands (Eurosonic festival), Moscow, UK (Liverpool SoundCity), the Balkans (Croatia, Serbia, Macedonia, Bosnia…), Spain, Lithuania, Poland, Czech Republic and others. They played over 180 shows in total and are confident to claim that they sound best on stage! They play noisy, guitar-driven music, interlaced with poppy vocal harmonies. Think fuzzy, wall of sound type guitars and ethereal vocals, all with lots of reverb. Sometimes the band throws in some synths, drum machines or other instrumentation too.

The band’s first release was in 2016 (EP Waver), which is considered the first ever release of the shoegaze genre in Slovenia. Because of this, the media quickly labelled them „the pioneers of Slovenian shoegaze“ which stuck to this day. The first full length album was released in 2018 („Where If Not Now“), which was produced by Vitja Balžalorsky, guitarist of renowned band Laibach. This album helped them reach a wider audience at home and abroad and was critically very well received. It was followed by a live unplugged album Izštekani in 2020, which was recorded on national radio and released via its record label. The band’s new album „Loose Contacts / Tense Present“ came out on KAPA Records in June 2022.

The band opened for The Jesus and Mary Chain in 2017 in Kino Šiška, Ljubljana, Slovenia

Czech psychedelic band Marcel Gidote’s Holy Crab (MGHC) established in 2019 mixing 60’s and 70’s influences of rock and jazz with modern sound. The current five members are Jan Bukovjan on vocals, tenor sax., flute, clarinet, and acoustic guitar, Ondřej Vávra on vocals and guitar, Viktor Eberle on vocals, keyboard and synths, Marek Sobota on bass and Matěj Šolc on drums. MGHC released their debut EP called „Bay Of Roots“ under the independent Czech label Polí5 in 2020. In 2021 they self-produced their first full-length album „Humidity Breaking Limits“ where they moved forward to a more complex but also heavier musical expression. A new album called „Farm Alarm“ that came up this year is based on more vocals parts, acoustic guitar, and synths and it is also a striking reminder of the climatic crisis of our planet.

Shortly MGHC established themselves in a few years as one of the most progressive Czech psychedelic bands, playing several extraordinary concerts for example one with legendary Japanese psychedelic band Acid Mother’s Temple (also with Acid Tongue, Tonstartssbandht, Lumerians, and Triptides). The band had reached several magazines and radios. Thanks to their mix of genres MGHC’s fanbase is still growing next to Czech bands like Madhouse Express or Kill the Dandies. In 2022 they started to play abroad and they already went to Germany, France, Slovakia, and Serbia. The band is currently working on another album and this year they will also release a soundtrack for an upcoming indie PC game called Felvidék.
