Kürzlich erschien das großartige Debüt der Emo-Punk-Combo COLUMBUS. Für unsere unregelmäßige Cover-Art-Reihe hat Künstler DANE TUTTY seine Arbeit exklusiv für Popmonitor kommentiert:
This was a lot of fun. I’ve done artwork for the band previously and the process is always enjoyable, I listen to the new songs and then draw up a design based on how the music makes me feel. As a tattooist by trade I really love getting the chance to create for Columbus, as I’m a fan of their music and the band gives me a lot of creative freedom. The process is very different: I usually send through a couple of rough sketches, we narrow it down and it evolves from there.
ALEX MOSES, Gitarrist und Sänger der Band aus Brisbane, ergänzt:
The album cover for us means and symbolises a few different things. The flower symbolises the spring, and it being dropped by the hands further supports the statement ‚it can’t be Spring forever‘. The hands represent a relationship between two people, and the skeleton hand a burden on the other.‘ We also decided on a orangey/skin background colour, as we thought this represented Spring.
