Centred around the vocal pairing of Robert “Hacker” Jessett and Anne Gilpin, Morton Valence have been around since the mid 2000s, during which time they have ploughed a unique and extraordinary path, both musically and within the industry.

Once described by The Guradian as “one of the most remarkable bands on these shores”, Morton Valence were pioneers of the fan funded musical project, or crowdfunding, and helped set a template for the likes of Pledge Music and Kickstart.

Their endeavours spawned the critically acclaimed album ‘Bob & Veronica Ride Again’ that featured the single ‘Chandelier’ that was ‘record of the week’ on BBC Radio 2’s Radcliffe and Maconie show and had some chart success in Germany where they have toured on a number of occasions.

Their musical journey is no less idiosyncratic,rooted in electronic music,over the years they have moved in various directions, from Electro to ShoeGaze and most notably Country music, which came to the fore on the 2011 album ‘Me & Home James’, featuring the single ‘Sailors’, described by the BBC as “the best single you’ve never heard of the past decade”.

Continuing a long that trajectory with their third -­- yet to be released–album, ’Another Kind of Country’ they have produced their most cohesive piece of work o date. Bringing the classic outlaw ballad into the 21st century via the streets of London, creating new genre of music they call ‘Urban Country’ and a masterpiece of an album that the world needs to hear.

Inspite of the irtaking liberties with various music styles, at the core of Morton Valence there has always been desire to create the timeless song, whether it’s inspired by Cole Porter, Hank Williams or The Magnetic Fields, there is an authenticity and effortless charm within this band that is a rare commodity in 2014.
