Nachdem die „Spring Foundation“ im letzten Jahr von THE SONIC BOOM FOUNDATION in Leipzig ins Leben gerufen worden war, findet die Veranstaltung 2013 im „About Blank“ ihre Fortsetzung in Berlin – genau dorthin sind alle Feierwütigen eingeladen, um gemeinsam mit THE GECKO (Berlin/London) den Frühling zu begrüßen.
Außerdem begrüßen The Sonic Boom Foundation live neue Songs vom 2013 erscheinenden Album „Embrace The Hope – Share The Pain – Love The Living“ sowie ihr neues Video zur gleichnamigen EP „Embrace The Hope“.
Und wenn alles gut läuft, begrüßen The Sonic Boom Foundation auch einen neuen Gitarristen (hört hört!), und falls nicht wider Erwarten alles total aus dem Ruder läuft, begrüßen The Sonic Boom Foundation und The Gecko natürlich auch Euch, falls ihr uns mit eurer werten Anwesenheit zu beehren gedenkt. THE SONIC BOOM FOUNDATION
Stilistisch wandeln THE SONIC BOOM FOUNDATION seit jeher zwischen technoiden Tracks und rockpunkiger Kraftmeierei, ohne den Song aus den Augen zu verlieren. So treffen auf dem 2010 veröffentlichten zweiten Album Bad News Always Good News (
Musikalisch werden hier die Liebhaber des Indietronic-Techno-Discopunk betreut. Die Wilderei im Retro-Supermarkt findet wie auf dem Erstling immer noch statt, wird aber durch „Blick-nach-Vorn-Songwriting“ und „Experimente-ohne-Blick-auf-Kommerz“ ergänzt. So wird der doppeldeutige Text von ‚Colour In Tomatoes‘ von einer sonoren Computerstimme vorgetragen und kommt im technoiden Trackformat daher, genau wie die Johnny Cash-Coverversion ‚Folsom Prison Blues‘.
Die Grenzen des Machbaren in songwriterischer Hinsicht werden in ‚Hi-end‘ oder ‚The Four Hundred‘ ausgelotet: Ersterer hat einen fulminanten Breakbeat ohne Punkt und Komma zu bieten (live gespielt!) und Letzterer fängt groovig an, um dann unvermittelt in ein lockeres Drum and Bass-Staccato überzugehen, und nein, man kommt wider Erwarten nicht auf das Hauptthema zurück.
Experimentierfreude trifft auf Sing-alongs in britischer Pop-Manier. Der Albumtitel verweist auf die Lyrics, Sozialkritik im Dreihundertsechziggradwinkel.

THE GECKO
THE GECKO describe their music as a fusion of 2001 Space Odyssey and Trainspotting. They write intelligent, energetic synth and guitar driven anthems that sound like they were made for stadiums. This British/German collaboration is based in Berlin and when not on tour, they’re collecting material for their debut LP and planning world domination.
In 2008 The Gecko evolved into the international animal it is today with: Espin Bowder (vocals), Carsten Brocker (synths), Samuel Halscheidt (guitar) and Pascal Gemmer (drums). In 2009 their first EP entitled Failure is Not an Option – mixed and fine-tuned by the Strokes collaborator Gordon Raphael – scored plays on radio stations locally and internationally, even though the EP was self-released.
Their latest single “All of a sudden” (summer 2012) captures the energy and motivation of a band ready to burst. A short but telling tale of a man who finally lets his creative madness out. Working with producer Johannes Saal( Super 700) and videographer Pol Ponsarnau they have made a classic performance video and have uncovered the slick but eccentric band within.
