Dieser Tage erscheint Here Come The Girls, das zweite Album der amerikanischen Rockband THE LONDON SOULS. Exklusiv für Popmonitor hat Sänger und Gitarrist TASH NEAL die neuen Songs kurz und knapp kommentiert…
WHEN I’M WITH YOU
Great melody, fun overdubs, and it’s in E flat!
STEADY
A slower, heavier version of a song we’ve been playing since highschool. We did this in one take.
HERCULES
This one is very clever. The drums keep you guessing.
ALONE
Beautiful song, and we got to experiment with piano parts.
ALL TIED DOWN
This one is heavy, with an emphasis on the bottom end. There are some unexpected changes and it keeps you moving throughout.
ISABEL
One of my favorites. Dreamy but syncopated. Tash has all the rhythm in his fingers. Clever bridge!
CRIMSON REVIVAL
One of our more straight forward songs. Simple arrangement, but still interesting.
HONEY
Another old one from 2006 or so. It’s a foot stomper. Also one take!
THE RIVER
It’s our only song at that kind of Jackie Wilson tempo. The percussion and acoustic guitars really drive that one. Fun to track!
HOW CAN I GET THROUGH
We’re lovers of all music. This one works with horns and upright bass, but it could have worked a number of ways. The Dixieland section played some really inspiring stuff.
VALERIE
Another old one that hadn’t seen the light of day until now. We got to flange some drums.
BOBBY JAMES
It’s a story song, really fun to sing. This is another side of us people don’t usually get to hear.
RUN ZOMBIE RUN
Yet another side of the album. Acoustic and restrained, but syncopated and very melodic.
