CHURCH GIRLS wurden 2014 von Mariel Beaumont gegründet und sind eine der vielversprechendsten neuen Indie / Post-Punk-Bands aus Philadelphia. Ihre neue Platte, welche am 25. Januar über Chatterbot Records veröffentlicht wurde, beschäftigt sich mit dem Beenden von Beziehungen und der Verantwortung, der man bei der Festlegung von Grenzen für geliebte Personen gegenübersteht, die schon öfter dem Missbrauch von Drogen verfallen sind.
Beide Alben, auch die in 2018 erschienene Platte Home (vorgestellt in Bandcamps New & Notable) wurden von Scott Solter (The Mountain Goats, Superchunk, Okkervil River) produziert. Sie kehren 2019 also zu dem von der Kritik hochgelobten Produzenten zurück. Der neue Sound hat die Gruppe von einer Indie-Rock-Ästhetik zu einer Post-Punk-Aggression verlagert. So bekamen sie Aufmerksamkeit des Paste Magazines, welches schrieb: „Church Girls schaffen es, den Garage-Rock-Sound ohne Ironie am Leben zu halten.” Church Girls tourten erfolgreich in den USA, Großbritannien und Kanada und kommen nun nach Europa auf Tournee.

The band JOYCE was formed in 2017 in the punk-rock scene of Kreuzberg (Berlin), as the songwriter Jody Sion joined with his old friend and guitarist Nikolas Gregori. The two worked together for over a year, blending Jody’s fierce melodies with bold guitar phrasing, and the alt-grunge sound of Joyce started to take shape. At the beginning of 2018, Igor Borelli (base) and Alessandro Aruffo (drums) joined the band, bringing along faster rhythms and an energetic groove.
In 2018, Joyce started playing live, as they won two music contests in Italy, shot a live-performance video of the song “Negative Grace”, recorded their first EP and worked on their album. In the first half of 2019, Joyce won two more contests, recorded an acoustic version of “Heart in a Shell” with Cardinal Sessions, and performed at the Young Talent Stage of the Open Source Festival in Düsseldorf. In October 2019, Joyce made its debut in the Berlin music scene, playing at Loophole and Marie Antoinette, supported by Indieberlin. In the following months, Joyce will participate to the semi-finals of the Tour Music Fest in Milan and will keep performing live in Germany.
