Peyton – PSA

Heute erscheint mit PSA das wunderbare Debütalbum von PEYTON. Exklusiv für Popmonitor hat die Singer-Songwriterin aus Houston die zwölf Songs zwischen R&B und Hochglanzpop kommentiert.

WHAT DID I DO

Friendship break ups are never easy and sometimes hurt worse than romantic ones. These are the thoughts I felt at the start of it all, trying to figure out what went wrong, and remind them of how our union was special. The overall feeling of the song was inspired by “More Than A Woman” by Aaliyah, which made me feel like a superhero whenever I listened to It.

LET IT FLOW FT. BRICE BLANCO

Following your own path can be scary especially when there are any valid thoughts of doubt. “Let It flow” is an anthem and a mantra that encourages going with the flow and trusting your ordered steps.

HATERS

Sometimes it seems as if we need to be or look busy all of the time to appear successful. I believe it is important to take time to relax and soak in the little pleasures of life. I’m telling the haters just because I’m chilling doesn’t mean I’m down and out.

PPL SAY

“Ppl Say” touches on how others doubts and projections of failure can be dimming to ones light. We have seen many times in history how the underdog became the top dog. Although people may not see your vision as clearly as you can, don’t take it personal and show them.

IRLMB

“IRLMB” (I Really Love My Baby) is a sweet love anthem. The vocals sang in a round-like manner are a representation of the obsessiveness and never ending thoughts of my love interest.

INTERLUDE

This interlude is a palette break intended to get the listener ready for the next section of the album.

BIG FLEXER

“Big Flexer” is a jazzy freestyle about how fly my boo is. I was listening to a lot of Baby Keem at the time, specifically “Orange Soda” in which he says “my lil baby lowkey a flexer”. Because I was brought up listening to a lot of jazz, I tried to create a jazz standard of my own.

DON’T U WANNA FLY

When we were young, we were so impressionable, amazed by the small joys in life, eager to be creative and imaginative. As we get older, that feeling dims as we get caught up in our daily lives. “Don’t U Wanna Fly” is reminder to hold on to that feeling and remember it is still inside.

TAD BIT

“Tad Bit” is a soft plea for intimacy. This song was heavily inspired by Jai Paul and SOPHIE, in terms of production and vocal production.

IT’S BEEN SO LONG

Everyone has experienced the pain and confusion of losing a loved one. This song touches on the duality of realizing that a loved one is in a better place and desperately wanting to live another moment with them.

PERFECT PEACH

“Perfect Peach” is a sweet song for a crush/new flame and that intoxicating feeling you get by them. When you find a person that you feel is just perfect for you, there is a feeling you’ll always be with them even in another life.

PURE IMAGINATION

This is a song that has brought me to tears so many times in my life. This follows along with the message of “Ppl Say”, that anything we want we can make happen if we truly believe it and with a creative mind.
