Zum Wochenende erscheint Complete Strangers – das neue Album der Folk-Band VETIVER aus L.A.. Exklusiv für Popmonitor haben die Amerikaner ihre neuen Songs kommentiert…

STRANGER STILL

An auspicious debut: the first appearance of saxophone and fretless bass on a Vetiver song. What took so long?

FROM NOW ON

A circle of a song and an interruption, inspired by Skeeter Davis. My favorite song on the album.

CURRENT CARRY

The only song here written in one sitting. A simple tune about uncertainty. Thom says the ending reminds him of „The Long Run“.

CONFIDING

Withholding.

BACKWARDS SLOWLY

Otto makes an appearance! I like when songs take off at the end and make you wait for it. The melodies you sing while you’re hitchhiking.

LOOSE ENDS

I was raised on jangle. My weak attempt to play a lead like John Perry.

SHADOWS LANE

For getting lost in the city at night. Arrangements inspired by Nick DeCaro.

TIME FLIES BY

Doesn’t it?

EDGAR

A misunderstanding. The sound of time unravelling. Feels like looking people in the eye and knowing they don’t expect much out of you.

LAST HURRAH

Another bummer for the summer.
