Hop-Along-Sängerin FRANCES QUINLAN im Popmonitor Track-By-Track Interview zum aktuellen Album „Painted Shut“ (Saddle Creek / Cargo Records)
Für HOP ALONG aus Philadelphia regnet es im Moment gute internationale Presse. Pitchfork 7.9, SPIN, Rolling Stone 4*, Visions Album der Woche, Piranha, The Gap, Stereogum, DIYmag 4* und unzählige Airplays. Ihr zweites und aktuelles Album „Painted Shut“ erschien am 8. Mai via Saddle Creek (Cargo Records) und erinnert musikalisch sehr stark an die im Moment auch sehr gefeierten Speedy Ortiz. Grunge trifft auf Riot Grrrl und Slacker Sound. Frances Quinlans Stimme ist dabei mal elfengleich, mal laut, dann krächzend und fordernd.
Klar ist die Mischung nicht neu, aber Hop Along machen es so gut, dass sie hier ein absolutes Meisterwerk abliefern und vielleicht schon eines der besten Alben des Jahres.
Im November kommen Hop Along auf Europatour, um neues Material vorzustellen und machen auch in Deutschland Halt.
